PAESE 3.0

This four-year project serves to further develop and utilize data from a project on post-colonial provenance research in Lower Saxony, which was completed in 2022 and involved museums and universities in the state – the first of its kind on collections from colonial contexts in Germany. The then director Dr. Claudia Andratschke from the Landesmuseum Hannover and Network for Provenance Research in Lower Saxony is now leading the PAESE 3.0 project, which builds on this, together with Prof. Rother. The aim is to make the data already collected usable for computer-aided analyses. Geographical information will be a particular focus, as its digital representation is particularly complex due to colonial territorial divisions and changing national borders.

The Scientific Space for Provenance and Collection Research Digital, of which the PAESE 3.0 project is a part, is coordinated by the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg and carried out at the Bremerhaven, Göttingen, Hanover, Lüneburg and Oldenburg sites.
